Restoring large defects (in surface or volume) in posterior teeth using BRD techniques implies almost inevitably the use of CAD/CAM techniques either chairside (semi-direct) or through a dental laboratory (semi-indirect).
There is a plethora of CAD/CAM materials, and the module will help the clinician make the best choice based on science, experience and common sense, including all detailed steps (tooth preparation, IDS, design, customization and delivery).
This course will help each dentist with mastering the “next level” type of inlays/onlays/endocrowns with IDS. After a presentation of the classification and indications of so-called semi-(in)direct restorative techniques (including CAD/CAM systems), the hands-on will dive into the basics of large intracoronal tooth preparations and use of short-fiber composite resin liners and build-ups. After a short scientific update, the relevance of dentin bonding and immediate dentin sealing (IDS) technique will be discussed in detail and immediately followed by the hands-on practice of large onlay and veneerlay preparations.
After a review of CAD/CAM materials, the last part of the course will focus on the fabrication and delivery of large CAD/CAM lithium disilicate and composite resin onlays, including the customization with coloring techniques.
