FAQ
What is the Magne Continuum?
The Magne Continuum includes a series of five 3-day hands-on courses distributed over 8-9 months and is the most comprehensive Biomimetic Restorative Dentistry (BRD) course with hands-on available. It opens the door to BRD certification through a thorough mentoring process. Courses can be purchased individually or as a package which offers significant advantages such as discounted pricing, waived certification fee, free one-year Magne PRESSroom membership, and a free BRD 900-page book by Dr. Pascal Magne.
How many CE Credits will I receive for a Continuum course?
Participants will receive 21 CE Credits for each Magne Continuum course.
Do I have to take the Continuum courses in order?
Our Magne Continuum courses do not have to be taken in consecutive order. Participants who have purchased the Magne Continuum Package have 2 years to complete all five courses.
What is the Dinamico course?
The Dinamico course constitutes a short version of the Continuum where each topic is covered over 1 day with a half-day lecture and half-day hands-on for each topic. Dinamico is a 5-day course program. This program is designed for individuals who are unable to regularly travel to Beverly Hills for our Continuum course offerings, but still would like to learn about the topics that are covered in the Magne Continuum course program. Dinamico course participants are not eligible for Magne Continuum Certification.
What is PRESSroom?
PRESSroom online lectures for dentists is our online program given in ten 90 minute monthly sessions which cover ten important topics of BRD for those who are unable to travel to Beverly Hills. Each session includes about 20 min of live question/answer. The program is available in English and Spanish.
What is the difference between the Continuum and the Dinamico course?
Dinamico is a shorter, condensed version of the Continuum held over the course of 5 days vs the Continuum’s 15 days of courses spread out throughout an 8-9 month period. It is therefore circa the third of the price and will save participants travel costs (1 round trip instead of 5) while still covering the same topics as the Continuum.
Is PRESSroom included in Continuum?
PRESSroom membership is separate from the Continuum, however Continuum Package participants receive complimentary one-year PRESSroom membership as part of the Package incentives.
Is the BRD book included in Continuum?
A copy of Dr. Magne’s 900-page book is given complimentary to Continuum Package participants.
Is the BRD book available in other languages?
Dr. Magne BRD encyclopedia including 900-page textbook and circa 100 videos in form of QR code link is available in 10 languages: Chinese, English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, German, Turkish, Polish and Russian. More translations are going to be available…
Is CADplus part of the Continuum package?
CADplus is a stand-alone course which is not part of the Continuum. We added this course due to the increased demand to learn about CAD/CAM restorations and how to customize monolithic ceramic restorations before placing them. In two days, you will learn the micropaying technique using ceramic colors and enamel.
Can I subscribe to a waiting list?
Yes, you can email info@magneeducation.com to be placed on a waiting list for any of our courses. We will contact you as soon as a spot becomes available. You can also subscribe to our newsletter to get the latest news and course announcements.
What happens if I want to subscribe to PRESSroom once some lectures have already taken place?
PRESSroom runs as a cycle and will restart every year. It is only sold as an annual 10-lecture package. If you are unable to attend the live meeting or sign-up later in the year while some lectures have already passed, the recorded meetings will be available via a video session on the Magne Education portal.
What is CER BRD?
CER BRD is the Center for Education and Research in Biomimetic Restorative Dentistry. It is the umbrella for Magne RESEARCH – our discovery and innovation lab where we investigate new materials and optimize existing ones through fatigue testing, microtensile, microshear bond teste etc. and Magne EDUCATION, which includes all our courses and webinars.
What is Biomimetic Restorative Dentistry?
I. The NATURAL INTACT DENTITION is the reference, the model to be preserved and emulated by the restorative materials and methods.
II. Restorative solutions should respect the PULP VITALITY AND HEALTH OF THE PERIODONTAL TISSUES.
III. Restorative solutions should aim at MAINTAINING HEALTHY/INTACT NATURAL HARD TISSUES, which implies working with the use of high magnification aids (high magnification loupes or microscope) and microinvasive tools.
IV. STRICT ADHESIVE PROTOCOLS to enamel and dentin are the cornerstone of the restorative method and include immediate dentin sealing (IDS), deep margin elevation (DME, when appropriate), additive contours, additive and thermo-modified luting (TML). They replace the traditional principles of retention and resistance form.
V. SCIENCE, COMMON SENSE AND EXPERIENCE should be at the center of the diagnosis and treatment; however, the PATIENT should be at the center of the final therapeutic decision based on the complexity and affordability of the proposed treatment.
VI. Esthetic dentistry is not the driving force of BRD but only the “cherry on top” after all aforementioned principles have been applied (prevention, respect of pulp vitality and reproduction of appropriate function and mechanics of the dentition).
VII. RESTORATIONS SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO FAIL. BRD is more about the survival of the tooth and less about the survival of the restoration. The maintenance of the restorative work should be done primarily by REPAIRING RATHER THAN REPLACING existing restorations.
Who’s the father of Biomimetic Restorative Dentistry?
Dr. Pascal Magne is widely considered the “father” of biomimetic restorative dentistry. He popularized the term and authored the first textbook on the subject, “Bonded Porcelain Restorations in the Anterior Dentition – A Biomimetic Approach”. His 2021 revision of this work (second and third books) is entirely dedicated to BRD. His work and teachings have significantly influenced the field, emphasizing the importance of mimicking nature in restorative dentistry.
Do you have hands-on courses in other languages than English?
We do offer on-demand courses such as Dinamico in any language as long as it is requested by a foreign coordinator/organizer who will take charge of the translation accommodations. For courses in Spanish we can take care of the translation and have local translators/helpers.
