On-demand biomimetic courses
Biomaterials in the Biomimetic Approach
Course Duration: 74 minutes – 1 CE credit
Description
This lesson reviews the various biomaterials used in restorative dentistry and how clinicians can differentiate among dental ceramics, composite resins, hybrid materials (PICN), CAD/CAM blocks, and emerging 3D-printed resins. The use of glass ionomer cements is also covered. The ultimate goal of these materials is to simulate the mechanical properties and esthetics of natural enamel, dentin, and the dentinoenamel junction (DEJ). An advanced approach explored in the course involves combining CAD/CAM technology with natural tooth structures (such as wisdom teeth) used as “spare parts” for restorations, aiming to achieve optimal biological and esthetic integration.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this webinar, clinicians will have a clearer understanding of the different categories of biomaterials and their classification, along with enhanced decision-making skills to select the most appropriate materials in line with biomimetic principles.
